How do I locate information and library items on a certain topic?

Ask staff if you need help to find an item within your local LINC library. Have a look on our catalogue to see what is available.  There are also eBooks and subscription databases on a huge range of topics you can access online with your LINC library card.

How do I use the library catalogue?

You can search our library catalogue online and there is help available. There are computers available in all LINCs to search the catalogue, or you can search from any computer anywhere, or even from your smartphone.

How can I get a question answered if I can’t come to the library?

You can ask us online.

Where can I find items that are new?

Check out our newly arrived items online. Displays of new material are often at your local LINC library.

How do I find about services and activities in Tasmania?

Tasmania Online has links to information published online in Tasmania.

What I want is not in my local LINC. How can I get access to it?

If it is a lending item somewhere else in LINC Tasmania's collections, you can place a hold. If it is a reference item we hold elsewhere, you can request a copy or ask for the item to be available temporarily at your local LINC. If it is a heritage or archive item, in many cases you can order a copy, no matter where you are.

If what you want is not in the LINC Tasmania library collections anywhere, you can request an inter-library loan for a fee.

Does LINC Tasmania have Tasmanian primary and high school yearbooks?

Yes, you can search our catalogue by searching for yearbooks. In the catalogue search form, just enter the name of your school or college in the 'Search our catalogue' box and click on the search button.

Does LINC Tasmania have phone directories from other cities and countries?

Yes , you can access phone directories from most places online, either from a LINC Tasmania computer, or from anywhere.

What is the “Stack”

Many of our books, serials and other materials are housed in a separate area known as the Stack. You can identify Stack, Pamphlet and serial items by looking them up in the Library’s catalogue, TALISPlus. If your item is located in one of these collections, please fill in a Stack request form and our staff will retrieve it for you within 30 minutes.
