Learning Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Where can I get help with reading, writing or maths?

Learning support is available at your local LINC. Contact your local literacy coordinator  to find out how to get started.

Are LINC Tasmania courses accredited?

There are a range of courses including informal non accredited courses as well as accredited courses offered in partnership with registered training organisation.  Enquire at your local LINC for details.

Do I have to learn in a group?

It depends on the course.  We can provide one-on-one and small group learning depending on the course.  Sometimes it is good to start off in a small group, build your confidence and then work in larger groups.  Ask your coordinator about the various options available.

Do I get a certificate?

Yes, you can receive a Statement of Participation for any structured training you attend.  You can also gain a Statement of Attainment for completed units of accredited training.  On successful completion of a full accredited course you will be issued with a certificate.

How much do the courses cost?

Our Computing 4 Me classes are $11 for a 2 hour session unless otherwise advised.  Most of the employment skills programs are free or very low costs.  Learn Xpress/Adult Education programs attract a fee.

Can I get a refund on my course?

It is important to choose your class carefully.  A full refund is payable if a class is cancelled.  No other refunds are considered unless there are extenuating circumstances which are supported by a written application.

How do I become a volunteer literacy tutor?
