LINC up with the library

If you live in Tasmania, you can get a LINC Tasmania library card to:

  • Borrow up to 15 items - books, magazines, movies and music - at one time.
  • Search our eResources, including Family History, Health and News subscription databases and LiteracyPlanet, online games to help kids with their reading and writing.
  • Explore our collection of historical, archival and contemporary material about Tasmania.
  • Book to use a computer in some LINCs

A LINC Tasmania library card is free.

To get a library card, just come in to any LINC library and staff will help you.  You need to bring three forms of personal identification such as your:

  • Driver's licence
  • Medicare card
  • Credit card with signature
  • Pensioner concession card (inc. health card)
  • Tertiary student identification card
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport
  • Firearms licence
  • Keypass

At least one of these must include your current address and one your date of birth. If none of these items shows your current address, you will also need either a bank statement up to 6 months old or a utility account (eg. electricity or phone) with proof of payment.

Children under 18 need an adult as a guarantor. The guarantor is responsible for the child's reading and any library fines.  When registering children, personal identification is needed only for the guarantor.

LINC Tasmania's services are accessible to everyone, and there are a number of services for people with disabilities.
