The State Library of Tasmania's reference collection contains over 200,000 items in a variety of formats. Items are housed in the iZone (Second floor, State Library building, Hobart), but many of our books, serials and other materials are housed away in a separate area known as the Stack. You can identify Stack, Pamphlet and serial items by looking them up in the Library's catalogue, TALISPlus. If you are in the iZone, and the item is located in one of these collections, you simply need to print the catalogue record for it and our staff will retrieve it for you within thirty minutes.
To avoid this wait, you may use our retrieval form . All we need is one hour's notice and we will have your stack request waiting for you when you arrive in iZone.
The State Library may lend some items from its reference collection to other LINC Tasmania libraries for use within the library only. Conditions do apply and some items may not be lent because of their format, subject or condition. The SRS Collections Loans Policy provides more information.
If you are not in Hobart, you may request a suitable reference item to be sent to your own LINC library
