Donating items to your library

We welcome gifts of new and used books, DVDs, audio books, CDs and children's resources that enhance our existing collections. Your donation of suitable items will be gladly received for assessment at any of our branch libraries.

Library staff assess donations according to subject, format, physical condition and likely demand. Accepted items becomes part of our state-wide lending collection and is made available for people to borrow through any of our branches. Unsuitable items may be sold to generate additional income for new purchases.

Please note that we cannot accept outdated editions or items in poor condition, unless they have Tasmanian heritage value.

Books and more

We can accept donations for the purchase of books and for other special purposes such as library furniture, new equipment, children's programs, or to fund any useful addition to our services and resources. Should you wish to discuss a large donation for a special purpose, please contact us.
