The following provides a summary of performance and service highlights for the 2010-11 financial year:

  • Physical visitor numbers to LINCs improved by three per cent compared to last year.
  • There were 2,787,583 online visits through www.linc.tas.gov.au which exceeds the target for this indicator by 39 per cent. 
  • Public programs continued to attract a range of different people to LINCs with over 51,000 attendances at LINC public programs in 2010-11.  Many of these were children participating in Storytime, Rock and Rhyme and Reading Together. 
  • The number of people accessing literacy support services through LINCs in 2010-11 doubled from the previous year and is expected to further increase as the literacy coordinator network is fully established.
  • There were 21,834 reported community learning enrolments, of which 6,754 or 31 per cent were in the “Work and Lifeskills” stream. 
  • 1,392 volunteers provided the equivalent of 50 FTE staff this last year, contributing 94,396 hours to community service delivery in the areas of literacy support, assistance for clients online and IT skills, courier services for homebound clients and assistance with family & local history. 
  • Visitors to the Allport Library and Museum of Fine Arts increased substantially with 6,772 visitors in 2010–11 which is an increase of 33.9 per cent on the previous year.
  • Non-government transfers received during the year included the newly acquired photographic material from the Mt Lyell Mining Company; Gustav Weindorfer letters; records from St. George’s Church and photographs from the Trinity Bellringers.
  • At the end of June 2011, there were 201,722 heritage documents and artefacts available online and 47,320 Tasmanian items were made newly available in 2010-11.
