Legislation - Tasmania

To find Tasmanian Acts, try using a guide to Australian law. Includes instructions for all Australian states and territories and the Commonwealth.

How to identify relevant legislation
Use the Subject Index to Tasmanian legislation to identify an Act or regulation or other subordinate legislation relevant to your area of interest. Thus, if you are looking for the Act that covers disputes about neighbours’ fences, you would look under “fences” in the subject index.

Viewing the legislation
Once, you have discovered the name of the legislation, you can view it at the Tasmanian Legislation: Tasmania's consolidated legislation online. Choose the Advanced search form and type the name of the Act in the top search box called “For documents that should contain”.

Try searching on the words 'boundary fences' in the advanced search. The results will include the following: Boundary Fences Act 1908 (No. 40 of 1908) and Boundary Fences Regulations 2008 (S.R. 2008, No. 159). Try clicking on the link to the Act.
