The digitisation of Tasmania's archival and heritage collections is a key goal outlined in the Department of Education's LINC Tasmania strategy. A key deliverable in the combining of the Archives Office of Tasmania and Heritage Services is to '...provide digital services for the Tasmanian community to meet its expectations of online information anywhere, as and when they seek information. It will expand the digitising program so researchers worldwide will be able to obtain digital copies of its unique collections immediately - in this way it will contribute to the national and international body of knowledge'.
Our focus has been on items that are frequently used by family and local historians and on providing access to our extensive collection of photographs, maps and plans.
