Australian Children's Laureate 2017

​We are excited to announce that Leigh Hobbs, the Australian Children's Laureate 2016-2017 will be a guest of LINC Tasmania this August!

Reading changes lives

The role of the Laureate is to promote the importance of reading, creativity and story-telling in the lives of young people.

Leigh Hobbs is an illustrator, sculptor and best-selling author of more than 20 books for children, including Old TomHorrible Harriet, and of course the world famous Mr Chicken!

Leigh Hobbs will be in Tasmania from Monday 14 to Friday 18 August.

Leigh Hobbs exhibition - Characters from the drawing board 

This travelling exhibition takes a close look at some of Leigh Hobbs' characters, in particular, Old Tom, Horrible Harriet and Mr Chicken.

A series of panels provides information about Leigh, his art and the development of his charcters. There is also a display of treasures from Leigh's studio, including, originak sketeches, sketch books, art materials and illustrations.
