January 2016 - 14 May 2016
This is an exhibition of works by artists Nicole O’Loughlin and Peter Maarseveen. The works were made during an Arts Tasmania Wilderness Residency on Maatsuyker Island in 2013.
Maatsuyker Island is located 10 kilometers off the south coast of Tasmania. It is home to Australia’s most southern lighthouse. While they were on the island the artists made many works inspired by the natural surrounds. Peter used pinhole photography to capture the wild landscape. Nicole painted watercolours of the flora and fauna of the island.
The exhibition also includes materials from the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office and National Archives of Australia about the history of Maatsuyker Island.
