No need to buy the books. Book Groups Tasmania is for everyone and stretches statewide.
Groups choose what to read by putting together a reading list from our
catalogue of over 500 selected titles.
How it works
- Groups must have between 5 and 12 members
- Members join and pay annual membership fees
- Each group nominates a secretary to co-ordinate pick-up, distribution and return of books
- Groups are self-directed - the form of discussion is up to members
- Groups meet between 6 and 12 times each financial year
- Members arrange their own meeting place
How to pay or renew your membership
Pay:
- in person - at any
library
- online - login to 'My Account' using your group user id and password
- by mail - mail your cheque to Book Groups Tasmania. Please include:
- your name
- the name of your group
- a contact address

Tell us through our Book Groups enquiry form.
We keep a register of groups seeking new members and will try to match you with a group in your area. You may have to wait if there are no available groups in your area.
Start your own group
All you need is:
- between 5 and 12 members. New members can join throughout the year
- somewhere to meet
- a member who is happy to act as group secretary and
- register your book group
- pick up the books from a
library
- distribute them to members at each meeting
- return the books to us by the due date.
The secretary is our main point of contact with the group and receives a membership discount. After your secretary registers your group, we then email your group information about payments, together with a registration number and password.
