Placing a hold
You can borrow any lending items that are in LINCs and libraries around the state. If the item you want is not at
your local LINC or library, you can place a hold through
our catalogue. You can have up to 15 holds on physical items at any time.
We will email you when the item can be picked up from
your local LINC or library. Emails for borrowers under 18 go to their guarantor unless the guarantor signs to say we can use the young person’s email. If you do not have an email address, we can notify you by phone or post. Login to My Library to change your email address or your pickup library.
We hold items for you for 10 days. Please cancel holds if you do not need them so others can use the items.
You can have up to 5 eBook or eAudio titles on hold at any one time. An email will alert you when that item can be downloaded.
If we do not have what you want
If we do not have an item you are looking for, we may be able to get a copy for you from another library.
If there is an item that you think should be part of our collections, you can recommend a title.
Volunteers deliver library items to people unable to visit a library due to illness or disability.
Borrowing is free but you may be charged for overdue, damaged or lost items. Pay library fees online through My Library or in person at any LINC or library.
Unpaid fees may mean you cannot borrow more items. eBooks and eAudio items automatically return on the due date so no fees are charged.
Junior library cards do not have overdue fees, except if they are long overdue and a letter has been sent.
If you lose or damage an item you must pay the cost to buy and process a replacement.
Overdue library items
If you keep items beyond the due date you will be charged $1.00 per week per item.
If you keep items longer than 5 weeks beyond the due date, you may be asked to pay the full replacement cost, including any administrative fees and charges. Once the item is returned, the fee reduces to the overdue charge ($5.00 per item) together with any administrative costs involved.
Damaged library item
If you damage an item while it is checked out to you, you may be asked to pay for a repair or for the full replacement cost plus any administrative fees and charges, if a repair is not feasible.
Please take care of your library membership card as you may be asked to pay for a replacement if you lose it. Please let us know if you lose your library card. You are responsible for any items lost before you inform us of your lost library card.
Keeping track of your loans
You can view your current loans in My Library.
If you provide LINC Tasmania with your email address, you will be emailed a reminder 3 days before a loan is due.
LINC Tasmania is not liable for damage to any equipment on which library materials are played or used.
