Volunteering with us
We provide a volunteer friendly environment. Our volunteers work side by side with our paid staff. Our volunteers help clients gain better access to our collections, services and programs.
Our policies provide a fair and safe workplace. Our values and goals are in line with the Department of Education’s vision of Learners First: every learner, every day.
“We work to provide every Tasmanian with the opportunity to continue to learn and reach their potential, to lead fulfilling and productive lives and to contribute positively to the community.”
Our values support this mission:
- Learning
- Excellence
- Equity
- Freedom of information
- Relationships
Volunteers support services and programs across libraries and the State Library and Archive Service. Roles include:
o help with information technology and family history
o support administration or library work
o work with children’s programs or events.
People of all ages and backgrounds volunteer with us. They bring their unique experience, enthusiasm and knowledge to the role. Many volunteers enjoy making a difference in their local community and learning new skills.
